Metazoa Brewing Co. aims to leverage craft beer to promote positive change. To effectively advance that mission, Metazoa Brewing Co. employees and their representatives must set an example by acting with honesty, integrity, and respect, conducting themselves professionally, and embracing everyone. Metazoa Brewing Co. accordingly requires that all employees conduct themselves in accordance with this Code of Conduct. Failure to adhere to this Code may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Lawful and Responsible Alcohol Consumption

Employees of Metazoa Brewing Co. must not willfully violate or disregard the requirements of the law. As brewers and members of the community of beer enthusiasts, employees may share and enjoy alcoholic beverages at events. In consuming alcoholic beverages, however, employees must adhere to the principles of responsible and lawful consumption. Employees must protect the image of Metazoa Brewing Co. by taking steps to ensure that employees including themselves, will not break any laws in the process of sharing, serving, selling, or consuming alcoholic beverages in association with company events. Should an employee consume more than a reasonable amount of alcohol and is incapable of functioning, or appears incapable of functioning, either legally or appropriately, Metazoa Brewing Co. employees accept their duty-to-act to keep that impaired individual from breaking any laws and from harming themself or others.

Everyone deserves to operate and co-exist in an environment where each individual receives dignity and respect. Metazoa Brewing Co. is committed to providing an environment free of discrimination and abusive, offensive, or harassing behavior. All employees must treat individuals and groups respectfully, regardless of race, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender expression, age, physical or mental disability, size or appearance, genetic pre-disposition, religion, ancestry, national origin, or veteran status.

It is our policy and our responsibility to provide every Metazoa Brewing Co. employee with a workplace that is welcoming, inclusive, and safe. Any harassment based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, pregnancy, age, national origin, disability status, genetic information, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. Any action which undermines our workplace morale and our commitment to treat each other with dignity and respect will not be tolerated.

Harassment can take many forms, including but not limited to:

  • Touching or other unwanted physical contact;

  • Posting offensive cartoons or pictures;

  • Using slurs or other derogatory terms;

  • Misgendering and/or refusing to use correct pronouns and preferred name;

  • Telling offensive or lewd jokes and stories;

  • Sending email messages with offensive content.

  • Unwanted sexual advances;

  • Requests for sexual favors;

  • Sexually suggestive gestures, jokes, propositions, email messages, or other communications.

  • Acts or statements that could be reasonably interpreted as microaggressions.


If you experience or witness any form of harassment in the workplace, please immediately notify your immediate supervisor. As above, if you do not feel safe or secure in bringing it to your supervisor, reach out to another supervisor or a member of the leadership team. We encourage you to come forward with complaints; the sooner we learn about the problem, the sooner we can take steps to resolve it.

Metazoa Brewing Co. will not retaliate, or allow retaliation, against anyone who complains of harassment, assists in a harassment investigation, or files an administrative charge or lawsuit alleging harassment. All managers are required to immediately report any incidents of harassment, as outlined in our policies. Complaints will be investigated quickly. Those who are found to have violated this policy will be subject to appropriate disciplinary action, up to and including termination.

Angel Dog Alert

Metazoa Brewing Co. is committed to a fun and safe taproom experience for all our guests. It is our policy and our responsibility to ensure safe and swift action for any Metazoa Taproom guest who feels uncomfortable, unhealthy, or unsafe due to the behavior of another guest.

In the event a Metazoa guest should find themselves in a situation that warrants immediate action, they can ask any Metazoa employee any question about a dog named Angel. Examples include, “Was there a dog named Angel in earlier?”, “Has Angel the dog been in the taproom tonight?”, “Do you know if Angel the dog is in the dog park?”

In the event a Metazoa employee receives the Angel Dog Alert, they are required to discreetly alert management and take immediate steps to assess the situation and respond accordingly to remove the guest from the situation.

Community Responsibility

Metazoa Brewing Co. is committed to promoting lawful cooperation within the craft brewing industry in which we work and with our customers, suppliers, and other members of the local craft beer community. Furthermore, we respect the confidentiality of sensitive information about our business, such as information shared at quarterly and annual meetings, and will always act in accordance with ethical standards and in the best interest of Metazoa Brewing Co. and the brewing community.
